The 2025 Gran Recogida (Big Collection) is now scheduled for November 7, 8, and 9. It is the most important charity campaign of the year for local food banks. It takes place in November in thousands of grocery stores, supermarkets and other participating businesses. Volunteers are key to informing customers that the collection is underway and encouraging donations.

Through this campaign, twice yearly Food Banks are able to stock up on basic food items and then to distribute to those most in need.

Make a donation at your local supermarket
Join the Big Collection and make a small donation when you go shopping. Remember those who struggle to access decent food. You can make a financial or food donation, depending on the supermarket chain. November 7, 8 and 9
Make a financial contribution
Your contribution will be used entirely to purchase food to cover the basic food needs of the most vulnerable groups in our society.
Participate by volunteering
We need to inform people in supermarkets about how to collaborate, with a simple greeting and a smile.

We need to find individuals and groups of friendly volunteers willing to give up a few hours of their day to help us fill those donation boxes.

Food Banks are non-profit , apolitical , and non-denominational organizations that work to combat hunger, poverty, and food waste by harvesting and distributing food to those most in need.
The Food Project in Mogán helps families across the south-west of Gran Canaria to not only eat and survive, but also to find paths out of extreme poverty.
The Operación Kilo Great Collection #GranRecogida is the most important of all the Food Banks ‘ fundraising activities throughout the year.

Volunteering for the Great Collection 2025 is very easy.
The 2025 Great Collection will be held on Friday, November 7th, Saturday, November 8th, and Sunday, November 9th (only at supermarkets open on this day of the week). All you need to do is dedicate four hours of your time on that day, during the time slot and at the participating establishment of your choice.
Sign up as a volunteer with your friends, family, colleagues, your soccer team… There’s another role: the coordinator, who’s essential for the campaign to run smoothly. You can sign up to help with this role.
